INVITATION AND CALL FOR PAPERS
The 18th International Symposium on Asian Studies, 2002
 
This Symposium is open to all who are interested in Asian Studies. It is organized by the International Center for Asian Studies (ICAS) of the Asian Research Service which was established in 1972, in Hong Kong and is the Publisher of Asian Profile.
 
This forthcoming symposium is conducted on a non-attending basis. This means that participation does not involve traveling and attendance in person. Participation is by submitting a paper on a topic of your interest for publication in the Proceedings for international circulation among scholars and institutions in various countries of the world.
 
Particulars of the Symposium are as follows:
 
Aim: To promote multi-disciplinary research in Asian Studies and to enhance international communication among scholars of Asian Studies.
 
Participation: Open to all who have a special interest in Asian affairs, regardless of nationalities and countries of residence.
 
Procedure: Conducted on a non-attending basis via publication in the Proceedings.
 
Papers:

Papers on any aspect of Asian Studies are invited. Topics may deal with any one of the following regions (1) China, (2) Japan and Korea, (3) Southeast Asia, (4) South and Southwest Asia, (5) Asian, Pacific Rim and Other Regions

Full paper must be submitted for publication in the Proceedings. Guidelines for preparation of papers will be sent to the registered participants

 
Participants
The Participation fee are as follows:
   
(1) ICAS Fellow/Member Participant US$135
   
(2) Non ICAS Participant US$155
 
Benefits:
(1) Freedom from travel restrictions, accommodation limitations and work schedule.
   
(2) All papers will be published in the Proceedings (The Proceedings of the past symposia consist of about 1000 articles). Each participant will receive a free copy of the Regional Volume of the Proceedings and 15 free offprints of his/her papers published in the Proceedings.
   
(3) Eligibility for appointment as panel chairmen of the forthcoming symposia including those conducted on an attending basis
   
(4) Special discount (up to 25%) on publications of the Asian Research Service.
   
(5) Upon request, ARS can customize materials in the form of anthologies or course/seminar readings at a discount rate. The compiled articles can be chosen from all the Symposia Proceedings since 1979, all issues of Asian Profile since 1973 and/or participant's own articles that are free of copyright conflicts.
